MyTeachers isn't just a project; it's a piece of my life story that began in the beautiful, yet
challenging, landscapes of New Zealand. Early in my teaching career, I had to find ways to manage
with the high cost of living. This led me to take up private tutoring in addition to my regular
teaching job. Although I loved teaching, the financial pressures made it necessary to look for extra
income.
I’ve always believed that learning should mainly happen in the classroom and that extra tutoring
should be considered only if a student really needs help understanding the basics. Over time, I
noticed that many students and their parents were often looking for trustworthy tutors. My
colleagues and I experienced this too. We ended up creating a list of teachers we knew from other
schools to help out. This experience made me realize how difficult it was for parents and students
to find good teachers, and it sparked the idea for MyTeachers.
MyTeachers was created to make it easier for students to find quality education support and to
help teachers earn extra income. Our goal is to offer more than just tutoring. We want to build a
community where education is about growing together, not just about passing exams. We connect
students with certified teachers who can provide the right support, while also creating a space
where teachers can find opportunities.
